Interactive C Does not automatically load the libraries to use the encoder functions. If you want to use the encoder routines be sure to either: a) load the library file encoders.lis prior to loading your file that uses those routines, or b) edit the file lib_hb.lis to include encoders.lis. This last solution will automatically load encoders.lis whenever IC starts up.
If the batteries die on the RCX, you might need to reload the firmware. The firmware is ALREADY INSTALLED if there is '0000' to left of the man icon on the RCX display when it is turned on. If you need to reinstall the firmware use the command in the RCX command center (or MacNQC) to do so. The firmware file is FIRM0309.LGO located on the top level of the CD.
